terms

the deal,
in plain words.

short version: be cool, we'll be cool.
last updated · 2026-05-25

1. who this is between

these terms are an agreement between you and the operator of amige. (the “service”, “we”, “us”). amige. is operated from Vietnam by the entity / individual identified as the data controller in the privacy policy. by using the service you accept these terms. if you don't accept them, please don't use it.

these terms are written in English. translations may be provided for convenience; if there is any conflict, the English version controls.

2. what amige. is (and isn't)

amige. runs your uploaded image, video, text, or pasted URL through a panel of third-party AI-content detectors and returns an aggregated verdict (likely AI, likely human, or uncertain), a confidence score, per-detector breakdowns, and — where applicable — a best-guess model attribution.

amige. is an AI system under the EU AI Act. this is the notice required by Article 50: the verdict you see is an automated output, not a human judgment. it is probabilistic, not a fact. modern detectors are useful but imperfect — false positives (real content flagged as AI) and false negatives (AI content missed) both happen, especially on content that has been compressed, cropped, re-encoded, or generated by very recent models. the skew is not even: text detectors over-flag non-native English writing in particular, so a verdict about a real person’s words deserves extra skepticism. we expose confidence and per-detector spread on every scan so you can read past the headline.

do not use amige. as the sole basis for legal, employment, academic-misconduct, journalistic, immigration, or other consequential decisions about a person or their work. amige. is a research aid; it is not evidence.

3. accounts

some features (history, paid plans, sharing, paste-link) need an account. anonymous use is allowed for the free daily image and text scan, rate-limited per IP.

you are responsible for the activity on your account and for keeping your sign-in method secure. tell us at [email protected] if you think your account has been accessed by someone else.

age. you must be at least 13 to use amige., or at least 16 if you are in the EU/EEA. you must have capacity to enter into a contract under the law where you live. if you're using amige. on behalf of an organization, you confirm you have authority to bind it.

4. your content

you keep all rights in the content you upload. we don't take ownership.

by uploading you grant amige. a limited, worldwide, royalty- free licence to do only the following — and nothing else — for the purpose of running the service:

  • store your upload on our private storage so we can run the scan and let you revisit it later;
  • transmit it to the detection vendors listed in the privacy policy so they can produce a verdict;
  • display it back to you (and to anyone you share a permalink with) inside scan results, history, and Open Graph cards.

what we do not do with your content:

  • we don't use it to train AI models — ours or any third party's.
  • we don't sell, rent, license, or syndicate it.
  • we don't publish it without your action. the share button is the only path to a public URL, and you can un-share at any time.
  • we don't hand it to advertisers, data brokers, or marketing analytics providers.

the licence above ends when you delete the scan or close your account. detector vendors may retain a copy on their side per their own terms — we can't reach into their systems to delete on your behalf, but you can contact them directly (links in the privacy policy).

6. what you must not upload

don't upload anything illegal where you live, anything that violates someone else's rights, or anything that fits these categories:

  • CSAM. child sexual abuse material, or any content that sexualizes or endangers a minor. we report CSAM to NCMEC where US law applies, and to the equivalent national hotline elsewhere (e.g. IWF in the UK, INHOPE-network hotlines in EU/EEA member states).
  • non-consensual intimate imagery (NCII), including AI-generated or deepfaked depictions of real people without their consent.
  • harassment, doxxing, threats, defamation, or stalking targeting an identifiable person.
  • content used to commit fraud or impersonate an institution, official, or person.
  • content you don't have the rights to scan in bulk — e.g. mass-uploading a copyrighted catalogue to attribute it model-by-model.
  • malicious code, exploit payloads, or content designed to interfere with amige., its detector vendors, or any user.
  • illegal content under the law where you live, including but not limited to content prohibited under applicable export-control or sanctions law.

we may remove content, withhold features, or suspend accounts that violate this section. for egregious or repeated violations we may terminate the account and report to authorities as required by law.

7. acceptable use

don't do these things to the service itself:

  • scrape the site, automate access, or send traffic that pretends to come from a human when it doesn't.
  • interfere with rate limits, attempt to bypass quotas, or use credentials that aren't yours.
  • resell amige. as a service to others, or wrap it in your own product without a written agreement.
  • reverse-engineer detector outputs to build a competing aggregator. you can scan things; you can't mine our pipeline.
  • use amige. to make decisions about a person that would require human review under EU AI Act, FTC, or local consumer-protection rules. amige. is research, not adjudication (see section 2).

8. paid plans, credits, refunds

the amige. Pass subscription includes a weekly cap of free image and video scans plus unlimited text scans. Scan Packs are one-time purchases of credits that never expire. you can hold both at once; subscription quota is consumed first, packs second.

auto-renew notice. a Pass subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period (monthly or annual, whichever you chose) at the price listed on the pricing page at the time of renewal. you can cancel any time from the billing portal — cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period, and you keep access until then. cancellation does not refund the current period unless required by your local law.

price changes. we may change prices on a going-forward basis. existing subscriptions stay at the price you signed up for until the next renewal; you get at least 14 days' notice by email before a renewal at a new price, with the option to cancel before it applies.

refunds. payments are processed by Polar Software Inc. acting as merchant of record — Polar is the seller of record for your purchase, handles tax, and processes the card transaction. amige. handles refunds in partnership with Polar. legitimate refund requests (charged in error, billed after cancellation, prolonged service outage that materially affected use) — email [email protected]. we don't refund credits that have been spent on a completed scan, including a scan whose verdict you disagree with — the detection ran and the cost was incurred.

EU / UK cooling-off. if you are a consumer in the EU or UK, you have a 14-day right of withdrawal under the Consumer Rights Directive / Consumer Contracts Regulations. by starting your first scan during the cooling-off period, you ask us to begin the service immediately and acknowledge you lose the right of withdrawal for any portion of the service already consumed. unconsumed credits remain refundable on request.

credits and consumed scans. video scans consume credits at the per-second rate listed on the pricing page at the time of the scan. text and image scans consume 1 credit each. credit balances never expire.

prices are listed in USD. taxes may be added by Polar at checkout depending on your jurisdiction.

9. service availability

the service is provided “as is” and “as available”. we work to keep it up, but detector vendors can be slow, fail, or go offline; uploads can fail; scans can stall. there is no guaranteed uptime in v1.

for paid users, we will credit back scans that consumed credits but failed to return a verdict due to issues on our side. just email [email protected] with the scan id.

10. amige. trademarks + IP

the amige. name, the wordmark, the “image or amige?” tagline, the scan-card aesthetic, the verdict stamp, and the marginalia voice are ours. you may reference the service by name to talk about it, link to it, or share a scan result. you may not use our brand assets to imply endorsement, build a competing product's identity, or create confusion about who runs amige.

the site's open-source dependencies are licensed under their respective licenses. detector outputs belong to the detector vendors per their terms; the aggregated verdict and its presentation are amige.'s.

11. copyright + DMCA

if you believe content on amige. (including a public permalink) infringes your copyright, send a notice to [email protected] with:

  • identification of the copyrighted work and the URL of the allegedly infringing material on amige.
  • your contact info (name, email, phone, address).
  • a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized by the copyright owner.
  • a statement under penalty of perjury that the information is accurate and you are the owner or authorized to act on the owner's behalf.
  • your physical or electronic signature.

we respond to valid notices by removing or disabling the identified content and notifying the uploader, who may file a counter-notice. repeat infringers' accounts will be terminated.

12. your responsibility for your content

you are responsible for the content you upload. if a third party brings a claim against amige. because of content you uploaded (e.g. a copyright owner whose work you uploaded without rights, a person you defamed in text you submitted), you agree to defend us and to cover the reasonable costs we incur as a result, including legal fees, except to the extent the loss was caused by our own wrongdoing.

this clause does not apply to consumers where consumer protection law in your country prohibits it (e.g. it doesn't apply to private-use consumers in the EU/EEA outside of bad-faith conduct).

13. warranties + liability

to the maximum extent permitted by law, amige. is provided without warranties of any kind — express, implied, statutory, or otherwise — including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, or that detector verdicts will be correct.

to the maximum extent permitted by law, amige. and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, including lost profits, lost data, lost goodwill, or any damages resulting from decisions you made based on a scan verdict. our total aggregate liability for any claim arising from these terms or your use of the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim — or USD 100 if you paid nothing — whichever is greater.

consumer-rights carve-out. nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under your local law. for consumers in the EU, UK, Australia, and other jurisdictions with mandatory consumer protections, statutory rights (such as non-conformity remedies, mandatory warranties, and the right of withdrawal) continue to apply on top of these terms.

14. termination

you can close your account at any time by emailing [email protected]. closure deletes your data per the schedule in the privacy policy.

we may suspend or terminate accounts that violate sections 6 or 7, that we reasonably believe pose a risk to other users or to our infrastructure or our vendors, that have been inactive for 24 months (after a 30-day warning), or where we are legally required to do so. where termination is for breach, you remain liable for amounts already due.

sections that by their nature should survive termination (content licence after deletion, IP, warranties + liability, indemnity, disputes) survive.

15. changes to these terms

we may update these terms when our practices or the law change. the last updated date at the top reflects the most recent revision. material changes (new fees, narrower content licence in our favour, new dispute mechanism, change in governing law) get a 14-day in-product and email notice before they take effect, and continued use after the effective date counts as acceptance. if you don't accept a material change, your remedy is to cancel before it takes effect.

non-material edits (typos, clarifying language) take effect when posted.

16. governing law + disputes

these terms are governed by the laws of Vietnam, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. subject to the consumer-protection carve-out below, any dispute will be brought in the competent courts where the amige. operator is registered.

good-faith first. before filing anything, please email [email protected] with a description of the issue. we will try to resolve it within 30 days. most things can be sorted with a conversation.

consumer-protection carve-out. if you are a consumer, the choice of law and forum above does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory rules of the country where you live. you may bring claims in the courts of your habitual residence, and the consumer-protection rules of your country (including for example mandatory warranties, cooling-off rights, and dispute-resolution forums) apply on top of these terms.

17. miscellaneous

  • entire agreement. these terms together with the privacy policy are the entire agreement between you and amige. for the service. earlier drafts and informal statements don't override what's written here.
  • severability. if a court finds part of these terms unenforceable, the rest still applies.
  • no waiver. not enforcing a right once doesn't mean we give it up.
  • assignment. you may not transfer your account or these terms without our consent. we may transfer them to a successor in a corporate transaction (sale, merger, restructuring), with at least 30 days' notice and your right to cancel before the transfer takes effect.
  • force majeure. we're not liable for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control — major vendor outages, large-scale internet incidents, natural disasters, governmental actions.
  • third-party beneficiaries. there are none. these terms are between you and us.

18. contact

we keep things to three inboxes — easier to staff, harder to lose your message in.

privacy + data rights + security + DMCA [email protected].

billing (refunds, plan changes) — [email protected].

everything else (account questions, scan issues, terms questions, account closure) — [email protected].

thanks for reading the whole thing.
